This university was founded in 1999 with the establishment of Instituto Piaget de Angola Association (AIPA), a body that promotes the university. The Jean Piaget University of Angola is also known as UniPiaget de Angola. It was legally recognized under the Executive Decree No. 44-A / 01, of 6 July.
The university is privately owned and has an associative nature, which allows it to comply with the general regulatory standards of the Higher Education Subsystem – through the creation, transmission and diffusion of knowledge, technology, science, and culture. This is done through teaching, articulation of study, and scientific research.

The values, mission, and vision of the university are based on postulates of the university’s patron, Jean Piaget. He defended the methods of encouraging man to develop his skills. His beliefs are also rooted in the university’s framework.

The vision of the Jean Piaget University of Angola is to train the required workforce for research, education, networking, community intervention projects, proximity, creativity and pedagogical freedom for human and social development

Sport Sciences, Nursing, Communication Sciences, Pharmaceutical Sciences, Civil Construction, and Spatial Planning, Economics and Management.
The following postgraduates courses are offered:
Developmental and Educational Psychology, Corporate Finance, Public Health, Psychology of Work and Organizations, etc.
